Kazimierz and the Ghetto – The History of Kraków’s Jews Walking Tour
Private round-trip transfer from Krakow to the Auschwitz-Birkenau Memorial and Museum. Door-to-door service from your hotel or apartment, timed to your museum entry slot.
The History of Jews in Kraków is a journey through centuries of Jewish presence, heritage, and the tragic events of the 20th century. The tour begins at Wolnica Square in Kazimierz – the historic Jewish district, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. We will learn about religious and social traditions while visiting the Old Synagogue or the Remuh Synagogue with the Remuh Cemetery (note: closed on Saturdays and Jewish holidays), as well as the cemetery with the graves of famous tzaddikim.
Along the way, we will also discover the stories of world-renowned Jews from Kraków, such as Helena Rubinstein, the pioneer of global cosmetics, and Roman Polański, the acclaimed film director. Crossing the Vistula River, we continue to Podgórze, where the Jewish ghetto was located during World War II. Here, we will see its remains, including a fragment of the ghetto wall, and end the tour at the symbolic memorial site – the Ghetto Heroes Square.
